WELCOME TO THE NICHE WORLD OF SEWING MACHINES!

WHAT YOU GET:

My goal right now is to publish 6 articles per month and maintain a robust folder of “Notes” that you all find entertaining. I am considering doing podcasts as well, so stay tuned for more on that.

Paid subscribers ($5 monthly or $50 yearly) get full access to all issues of The Sewing Machine Newsletter and full access to the archive. Your questions will get top priority in the AMA articles (Ask Me Anything), plus I’ll take your occasional requests. All subscribers, paid or free, get one article a week (for now; this may change).

Who, What, When, Where, & Why . . . .

Who?
Cale Schoenberg, continuing the family lineage of Schoenberg men entrenched in the sewing machine industry. Son of Dan, nephew of Marty, grandson of Ramon, great-grandson of Stepyk.
Sewing Machines Are In My Blood

What?
A weekly newsletter that covers a variety of sewing machine related topics. From basic principles of how sewing machines work, insights and opinions on small business and the sewing machine industry, sewing history, family history, and more. You don’t have to sew to enjoy the Substack, but I suspect that sewists of all ages and ilks will find it useful.

When?
1-2 times a week, but not on a rigid schedule.

Where?
Your email inbox.

Why?
In May 2020, shortly after the onset of Covid-19, I took over the responsibility of authoring the weekly email newsletter for my dad’s shop. The perspective of a technician was well received by our customer base and their feedback was very encouraging. It turns out that sewists are interested in the technical side of sewing machines more than I ever imagined. I want to continue to publishing good sewing machine information for sewists all over the world, and I hope to do that here on Substack.
