Thanks Cale. Other European manufacturing worth mentioning include Adler, Phoenix, vigorelli, and Davis. Not as mainstream as the ones you covered, but all made beautiful and capable machines in their day.

So glad I finally had a moment to read this article. I never want to feel time constrained while reading your articles. It is amazing and I feel sad that leverage, buyouts, bankruptcy has plagued so many companies. Bernina has been faithful to their customers and they produce an excellent machine. Thank you 😊

Another interesting article Cale! Thank you. I've been cleaning out my hoard of bobbins and bobbin cases and am wondering why they are not interchangeable. Does that small open slit next to the hook function differently on different brands of machines? The brother bobbin case looks so similar to the singer bobbin case to the bernina/bernette case. If you have already addressed this subject just point me to the article.

i have a WHITE sewing machine some one gave me. can you tell me the history of the company? it doesn't work. maybe a collectors piece.
