What about Pfaff? They pioneered built in walking foot (IDF) and Bernina just added it to their higher machines several years ago.

I'm also wondering about the Pfaff - I remember being fascinated with their built-in walking foot, but I couldn't justify a new machine.

Also - what do you think of the Juki box feed? It's not dual feed, but is it worthwhile?

I really like your columns! This one about walking feet was very good! Unfortunately, I just have the generic foot that has to be screwed on, which is a real pain, but I'm not in the market for any new machine. I'm still learning the last one I bought! BTW, I'm a subscriber and I always spread the word about you to my sewing and quilting buddies. Keep up the good work!!!

I was introduced to Pfaff's IDT (Integrated Dual-feed Technology) in the early 80's and have been a Pfaff girl ever since. Fast forward to today, when Pfaff is no longer Pfaff, and I'm struggling to find a equivalent alterative.

I did buy a Bernina 770QE Plus, which had the (Pfaff copycat) built-in dual feed, but it did not measure up, in my opinion.

The AcuFeed Flex still looks bulky in the pictures and videos, but the technology seems completely different, so I will check it out and give it an honest go. Hopefully it's everything they claim it is and I fall in love. That is my prayer.

I really your articles! This was another great one. Especially liked at the end when you recommended a vintage machine for those with smaller budgets. I loved the integrated dual feed on my old Pfaff.

Hi Cale. Really enjoyed this Newsletter about Walking Feet. I have a Janome 8900 QCP, a Bernina 820 QE, and a Bernina 770 QE. I never realized the Janome's walking foot was superior. I did buy a Bernina walking foot specifically for quilting long straight lines on a queen size quilt because I was told the Dual Feed wasn't up to the task. Actually, I've found the Dual Feed works quite well for a number of sewing applications. I think Bernina simply talked me into spending more money! Linda

I have an Elna eXcellence 720 Pro, and I love her. I have the AcuFeed, and it is great, with the exception of the zipper foot AcuFeed attachment, which likes to come off some times. I do covet an industrial compound walking foot (needle feed) machine, but I don't have room for one. Do you have experience with how the AcuFeed system compares to the industrial walking foot machine, besides that industrials can often sew much heavier fabric? I am loving your newsletter!

Cale, your lovely articles are turning into thinly disguised advertisements for Janome!

I can't believe you overlooked the Pfaff IDT, which pre-dates the Bernina system; it is sleek and easy to use and works really well.
