I have a babylock, and I think it has a defect. The little flimsy piece that keeps the needle in place has broken 3 times. Who can help me with this issue?
As someone in the business, do you know of anyone who does repairs on Elna Lotus TSP. I have one that should still be in good shape, but it was put away for several years. I think it may just need cleaning and oiling. But it's possible the motor has "seized" (someone else's suggestion). Any ideas on who might repair it? Thanks if you have any advice.
This sealed my deal. I've been struggling with a series of Singers. They are temperamental and really poor quality. I picked up a Brother for $12 and couldn't be much happier but would like a better machine that can handle heavier fabrics. I'm so happy I subscribed to your substack!
Well, I feel fortunate. I have had a BL Imaginé serger for years and love it. I recently had to replace a 1977 Bernina and bought the BL Presto II. Great machine. The BL Euphoria rounds out the sewing room for coverstitch needs. All have been trouble free and make beautiful stitches.
With limited space in my dedicated sewing room, and only so much money, I eventually ended up with a Brother Innov-is 3700D, so I could both sew and embroider, and a used but in great shape Janome AirThread 2000D Professional Overlocker (Serger). Yes it has tension dials ,but the air threading for the loopers and the needle threader that works for both the left and right needles, plus all the other features, make it a nice choice for a serger, when one cannot afford a Babylock.
I'd like to see an article comparing Janome machines to Bernina machines, in the 2024 landscape -- specifically the Bernina 4, 5, and 7 series machines. How about it?
I keep reposting these on Facebook under a post someone was seeking information on inexpensive machines.

Great information in your series also.

Great article! Love my Baby Lock Meridian and my Janome 9450.
Maybe I missed it, but I haven't seen you mention Bernette machines. How do they fit in the landscape?

Thanks!
Great job simplifying the landscape of these machines!
