What are the pros and cons of the two types of bobbin placement - horizontal and vertical? The drop in type looks easier to use. My Bernina‘s are vertical and so I wonder if this produces a more quality stitch.
I do think the vertical bobbin makes a better stitch. Why are most machines drop down now? Repair and parts? Is my guess. Does the timing last longer with a vertical or horizontal? Especially when doing a solid satin scallop the effects are much better with the vertical.
If I need to change threads is it ok to pull the thread backwards through the take up lever? I was taught to cut the thread and pull the thread down, in the direction it would travel through the needle.
I would like to know what your followers use their sewing machines chiefly for? another question if you use your machine for at least 3 hours every day, how often should you bring it to the shop to get a check up? Stuart
If you have separate section to view previous questions that would help eliminate duplication and serve as refresher for who remember reading your comments, but just need to review; i.e., THREAD, BOBBINS, TENSION, 1/4 INCH PERFECT & SCANT, ETC.
My singer stylist keeps making a loud clacking noise when on medium-full speed and I am unsure what to do to fix it. I’ve taken the whole thing apart and cleaned, oiled and reassembled and made sure it was so tight but maybe it’s my presser foot? Seems like the timing is off but idk why it’s making such a loud noise and shaking when it’s on full speed. Been doing it since about 6 months out of the box and I’ve had it for close to 10 years and just now getting around to figuring it out. It’s been doing the same thing and has not changed or corrected since being in storage.

Oh hi! It’s me. I’m the problem! I’m the lucky gal who over-tightened the needle screw. Thank you for working your magic to fix!!

It seems most of the new machines have a computer board. What is the typical lifespan of a circuit board and can the board be repaired?
Bobbins, specifically correctly winding the thread, inserting correctly in the bobbin case and adjusting the tension screw on the bobbin case.

Is it true I should not turn the handwheel counter clockwise? Only turn the handwheel clockwise?
