Greetings everybody,
This past week has been a bit hectic and I was unable to finish the article I had planned for today. It should be ready to be published sometime in the next week.
In lieu of that article, I thought it would be a good opportunity to let you know about a few different features on Substack that you may not be aware of. If you are interested in sewing machines and enjoy the content I have been putting out so far, then these might be features you want to take advantage of.
Accessing the Website
I know that many of you receive The Sewing Machine Newsletter in your email inbox once a week and that is the extent of your interaction with the newsletter, which is perfectly fine. However, if you want more than just the weekly newsletter, I have more sewing machine content to offer you. In order to access this extra content, you will have to go to my page on Substack’s website. I am going to show you how to get there.
The image below is how the newsletter shows up in your email inbox. Above the article’s title are the words “View in Browser”, which I have circled in purple.
If you click “View in Browser”, you will be linked to the same article on the Substack website and you can read the article as you please.
In the top left-hand corner you will see an icon that shows a picture of a blue sewing machine in front of a window. I have circled that icon in purple in the image below:
If you click on the icon you will be taken to The Sewing Machine Newsletter home page. On the home page you will see 6 words on the top of the page that says: Home - Podcast - Notes - Chat - Archive - About
This is where you can access more than just the weekly newsletter.
Notes
If you click on the “Notes” tab, you will go to a page where I leave notes of the daily happenings that occur at the shop where I work. The notes consist of things I see that don’t necessarily warrant an entire newsletter dedicated to the subject, but I have a feeling that sewing machine enthusiasts might find them interesting and will be able to glean some knowledge from them.
My goal is to post a couple interesting notes every week in addition to the newsletter. Here are a couple of examples:

Subscriber Chat
I’m excited to announce a brand new addition to my Substack publication: The Sewing Machine Newsletter subscriber chat.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app that I set up exclusively for my subscribers (both free subscribers and paid subscribers)— kind of like a group chat or live hangout. I’ll post short prompts, thoughts, and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the discussion.
For those of you who are paid subscribers— you have the ability to start a new thread of your own. If you have any thoughts, prompts, or sewing machine related subject matters you would like to put up for discussion, you have the ability to do so.
You can access this chat on your computer by clicking the “Chat” tab of the newsletter. However, to get notified about this chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app, now available for both iOS and Android. Chats are sent via the app, not email.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
Archive
The Sewing Machine Newsletter is exactly 4 months old, and so far I have put out 19 articles and 2 podcast episodes.
You have access to all of them in the Archive. Simply click the “Archive” tab to see the full list of articles I have published.
Here is a categorized list of the archive of articles I’ve published on Substack, with links:

Thank you for reading. If you have trouble accessing any of the features I highlighted in this article, please let me know in comment section.
I started this Substack as part of my ongoing effort to help populate the online world with better information about sewing machines. If you’d like to go on this journey with me, you are free to consume the contents of this newsletter at no charge. But if you appreciate the work that I do, and it is within your means, you can support my writing and podcasting for only a few dollars a month.
Thank you.
Appreciate you all.
